culture brewing co + newport pizza

Last month I actually went out for beer. I know, right? That’s weird! But it was to support my friend Frank’s (aka Stacey’s boyfriend) art show AND to support puppies (The Southern California German Shepherd Rescue) so I figured that was a good reason to go have beer. The event was over at Culture Brewing Co in Ocean Beach and they featured a bunch of Frank’s awesome art for the month. This particular art show all showcased sketches of places around …

gino’s pizzeria featuring the philadelphia sandwich co.

Gino’s Pizzeria Featuring The Philadelphia Sandwich Co. (isn’t that a mouthful) is a new spot to the Miramar area, behind the Denny’s on Miramar Road. They put together Gino’s Pizza and added the Philadelphia Sandwich Co. into the shop. The Philadelphia Sandwich Co. used to be located off Convoy Street near the Original Pancake House. Gino’s took over a place called Dino’s that served pizza and Italian sandwiches. I visited Dino’s a few times and always thought the place needed …

blaze pizza

Some PR peeps for Blaze Pizza sent me some coupons forever ago to try it out the pizza here and I finally got around to it. There’s a location up in far away Carlsbad, one in Encinitas and a newer spot that’s in the Balboa/Genesee area. We tried to go one Saturday evening and quickly realized that Saturday evening was NOT the time to go since the line was out the door. Holy cow. When did Clairemont get to be …

We’ve finally gotten to our last day in Portland! And this post will be all food! The majority of our day was spent checking out a few final foodie spots and we spend a good chunk of time at the Crafty Wonderland craft fair at the convention center, picking up little goodies for presents to bring back home. Let’s check out what Jake, T and I ate on our last day in Portland.

Our last breakfast in Portland …

restaurant week preview at monello in little italy

I was invited to check out a preview of San Diego Restaurant Week this year and my choice of restaurant was Monello in Little Italy. Jake and I first visited Monello back in December 2013 and I remember loving their homemade pasta so I was looking forward to a revisit.
We were warmly greeted by the manager of Monello, Paul, who was delightful and really engaging. I saw him constantly interacting with all of the guests dining in the restaurant that …

isabella artisan pizzeria [revisit]

A little while ago we went back to a place that Jake and I visited for our anniversary earlier this year: Isabella Artisan Pizzeria. It’s a very dog friendly place with a big patio in the back, though this visit it was on the chilly side (and we had no Maya) so we sat indoors.

It’s kind of a big open space! The table we sat at had chairs that pushed right in under the table, so it just looks like …

pizza rock / las vegas
November 26th, 2014 Las Vegas, Mary, Travel mary 2 Comments

Food Fight Write was an amazing conference and the first food blogger conference I ever attended. I drove into Vegas with my parents (who are retired and can pretty much go on a trip on a whim) so I wouldn’t have to do the drive alone.
