the cork and craft

Recently I was invited to go in and check out a relatively new spot up in Rancho Bernardo called The Cork and Craft. The Cork and Craft is a really unique restaurant that also houses a winery and a brewery. The restaurant came about as a way to bind all three ventures into one, making it a place to not only get a great meal but to also enjoy some local wine and craft beer!

Jake and I went in on a Friday …

macarons at blush desserts

Last week I was out and about in the Convoy area and I decided to pop in to see what kind of treats they had over at Blush Desserts. Initally I just wandered in just for a look-see. I didn’t promise myself I would actually buy anything and my intentions were to only buy a strawberry cheesecake macaron if they had them. And if not, then nothing.
That obviously did not pan out the way I thought it would. I peeked on the macaron …

anniversary dinner at toast enoteca & cucina

Jake and I recently celebrated our 8th anniversary! EIGHT. E-I-G-H-T. It is crazy how fast time flies by. When Jake and I started dating, his youngest son (S) was only four years old! And S will be 13 this year! Holy crazy cakes, Batman.
Jake and I have been through a lot of ups and downs but I feel like the last few years have been more ups overall which makes me quite happy. I wouldn’t change anything and everything …

Earlier this month my dad celebrated another birthday! Hooray! For his birthday, I took him and my mom out to dinner to a place I was invited to called El Agave Tequileria. El Agave Tequileria is located in Old Town (aka Tourist Land) just on the outer edges.

They have their own parking lot in the back (to the left of this photo) but I ended up parking on the street nearby.

Once you step inside, you see that the whole restaurant …

a tale of two pans: cream pan and the apple pan

You know you’ve found the right partner in life when you’re sitting at home watching a travel food program, see a restaurant in Los Angeles that you want to try, and your partner says, “Let’s go next weekend!” even though he hates Los Angeles. Boys that are willing to do all of the driving and take you to LA just to try food are my kind of boys. ?
That’s how we found ourselves one recent Sunday morning – getting up …

juniper & ivy

My friend Alyssa (who used to write for this blog!) recently came back to San Diego to visit with her husband, J, and her two adorable little ones. She made plans to go to Juniper & Ivy and invited me along! I’ve been interested in trying out Juniper & Ivy for so long and was glad to get the chance to hang out with my best good friend and to eat tasty delicious things.

Juniper and Ivy is one of chef …

kirin sandwich, mini donut ice cream, carnitas & pig ears + other ramblings
March 5th, 2015 etc, Mary mary 6 Comments

This will be another one of those radical random rambling posts (yes I just said radical, no I’m not stuck in the 90’s, hey I was going for alliteration).

[the kirin]
First up! THE KIRIN. Instead of being a magical sea creature, this is actually a sandwich filled with sea creatures. Shrimp to be specific. It’s one of the newer sandwiches from Supernatural Sandwiches and it’s a Shrimp Banh Mi with Chinese sausage. Mostly you just see the shrimp in my photo but you …
