loaded po’taters at wienerschnitzel

Quickie post today! Jake, T, and I hit up Wienerschnitzel recently for a quick bite to try their new “Loaded Po’Taters”. For whatever reason I thought these were going to be baked potatoes with “stuff” in them but actually it’s tater tots!

That explains why the “po” is so small in this photo, eh.
There are three different styles of taters to choose from: Chili Cheese (the regular, normal, non-crazy one), the Blazin’ (for you spicy lovers), and the Meat Lovers (for …

modoo donuts | buena park

After Korean BBQ at Mr BBQ, we hit up a nearby shop called My D-Pins and Collectibles to check out some Funko Pops. This shop had TONS of Disney pins. I didn’t even know Disney pins was a THING. Shows you how much I know. After collectible browsing, I wanted to hit up a nearby donut shop before we headed home. Modoo Donuts held the promise of cute donuts and I couldn’t resist popping up for a few donuts.

pizzanometry | mira mesa

Last Friday I checked out a brand spankin’ new spot that just opened in Mira Mesa called Pizzanometry. My co-workers and I were down for a little bit of pizza creating so off we went!

I just noticed Pizzanometry in the McDonald’s/Rite Aid shopping center last Monday. It’s right next to Siam Nara. It’s in the spot that used to be D&C Tofu House which closed in February. I was surprised to see a new spot had opened up since there’s no …

the milk bar | north park

Last weekend after we ate some burgers, I made Jake drive by a new spot so I could try out some cookies and crazy flavored milks. The spot? The Milk Bar. The Milk Bar is located adjacent to Streetcar Merchants in North Park. The space is actually open so you can walk right into Streetcar from Milk Bar and vice versa.

It’s a pretty simple little setup inside. There’s a counter that displays the sweet treats being offered that day. They …

san diego burger week 2016 recap

San Diego Burger Week was upon us once again last week – were you able to hit up any spots for $5 burgers? I only managed to go to 5 places which seems somewhat respectable. Let’s recap the places I visited for San Diego Burger Week and I’ll tell you which burgers I’d actually pay full price for in the future.

At South Park Abbey in South Park, the Burger Week deals were:

Adventuring in Mexico: Tacos Salceados and Popotla

Last weekend Jake and I made our first international trip together to Mexico! We applied for our passports in mid-February and were surprised at how quickly we got our passports. My folks were going down to Rosarito and we joined them in their sweet condo rental. Jake and I drove separately since we had to come back to the US on Sunday and we met my folks in Tijuana for lunch.

I was a bit apprehensive about going to Mexico since most …

TIABI Coffee & Waffle Bar: Our last meal in Vegas
March 2nd, 2016 Cheap Eats, Las Vegas, Mary, Travel Mary 2 Comments

And now… for my last Vegas post! After some “just okay” dinner at a Chinese place called China Mama (which we visited last time) and some gambling (I finally played roulette – and won!), we hit the hay late in the evening and were surprisingly up at a reasonable hour on Sunday morning. We gathered our stuff and prepared to get out of dodge on the early side – before most folks were even starting to stir.

After check-out, we headed …
