liberty public market | liberty station

A couple of weekends ago, Jake and I had a little afternoon to ourselves. T was off at baseball practice and we decided to see a movie (Zootopia! It was super cute!) and then head over to the Liberty Public Market for a little afternoon lunch. The market hasn’t been opened for too long but we were able to snag a parking spot pretty close to the market.

This is the front sign which faces the Corvette Diner side of Liberty …

hiking at palomar mountain + the buffet at harrah’s rincon casino

During our mini staycation, we took off to Palomar Mountain for a fun (and tiring) nature hike. I wanted to revisit the Palomar Mountain School where I (and T) went for sixth grade camp. We also went to The Buffet at Harrah’s Rincon Casino for lunch! More on the buffet later. First up… breakfast!
Breakfast at Starbucks
If it’s after 6AM, there are only 2 options for breakfast at Harrah’s. If it’s before 6AM then Pink’s will be in the mix for …

[revisit] carnitas uruapan | la mesa

I had a mini-vacation last week but I’m going to do the “easy” post first – a revisit to one of our usual haunts in La Mesa. It’s a little place called Carnitas Uruapan (which I fondly call “Uhuara” because I’m a geek and I always forget the “Uruapan” part of the name). Jake made the suggestion over the weekend and it was a fine suggestion. We were out running errands and this was a really nice stop for lunch.

We’ve …

pizzanometry | mira mesa

Last Friday I checked out a brand spankin’ new spot that just opened in Mira Mesa called Pizzanometry. My co-workers and I were down for a little bit of pizza creating so off we went!

I just noticed Pizzanometry in the McDonald’s/Rite Aid shopping center last Monday. It’s right next to Siam Nara. It’s in the spot that used to be D&C Tofu House which closed in February. I was surprised to see a new spot had opened up since there’s no …

pipirins | gaslamp quarter

Last weekend I was invited to try out a new restaurant that has popped up in the Gaslamp Quarter. It’s a cute little shop in the heart of Downtown called Pipirins. When Jake first heard the name of it, he thought it would be an Italian restaurant but actually it’s a Guadalajara style restaurant!

Pipirins is only a couple of blocks away from Horton Plaza, right on Broadway.

They have lunch special portions which are a little smaller in size (4 oz …

rough draft brewing company

Rough Draft is a brewing company that is very close to my office. I’d only been once before since I’m not much of a beer drinker but they recently started offering food. This meant I had to visit a couple of times to get a feel for their menu. All in the name of research!

Rough Draft is located off of a small street at the end of a cul-de-sac, surrounded by office buildings. They have outdoor seating and are a …

havana grill
January 20th, 2016 Clairemont, Mary, San Diego County Mary 2 Comments

On Saturday after running a few errands, it was time for Jake and I to have some “real lunch”! I picked Havana Grill since we were in the area and I had been curious about Havana Grill. I had seen it was finally open and wanted to check it out with Jake.

Havana Grill is in that little plaza off Clairemont Mesa Blvd. at the 805 when you start heading west. The smaller one that’s slighter harder to park in. Surely …
