¡salud! by the san diego taco company / barrio logan

Last weekend Jake and I felt like young adults again, going out for dinner and a play. At night! On a Friday! By ourselves! This is a rare thing these days.
We were going over to Coronado to check out the play, Avenue Q, and needed a little dinner before the show. Jake nixed any suggestions I made for dining in Downtown so I went with a place just outside of Downtown in Barrio Logan. A new place called ¡Salud! which is …

tobey’s 19th hole

This is a resurrected post from when I wrote about Tobey’s 19th Hole for a local San Diego site back in the day (2012, to be exact). I didn’t realize I still had the text and photos lurking around in my Google docs, so here’s a “blast from the past” article that CC encouraged me to repost (thanks, CC!). I had a few extra photos that I threw in as well. Please note, the prices may have changed since this …

snooze am eatery / del mar, ca

Recently I was invited to come back and check out Snooze AM Eatery. Snooze AM Eatery originally opened a location in Hillcrest (which we visited!) but there’s a newer spot in Del Mar as well. Their roots are in Denver and I’m glad they made the trek out West since their breakfast items are totally delicious.

We went on the morning of the Super Bowl so while it looked crowded to us, our waitress told us it was actually “slow” for them. …

blaze pizza

Some PR peeps for Blaze Pizza sent me some coupons forever ago to try it out the pizza here and I finally got around to it. There’s a location up in far away Carlsbad, one in Encinitas and a newer spot that’s in the Balboa/Genesee area. We tried to go one Saturday evening and quickly realized that Saturday evening was NOT the time to go since the line was out the door. Holy cow. When did Clairemont get to be …

dim sum at pearl chinese / san diego

Last month I finally got to try out “sit down with the carts” dim sum for the first time with Faye of Faye’s Fork and Lynn of Oh-So-Yummy at Pearl Chinese. We met up on a Saturday and sat at a big, round table to start stuffing delicious dim sum into our mouths. Sounds like the perfect Saturday to me!

Pearl Chinese is up in Rancho Bernardo and has this beautiful pond/lake in the back area next to the Doubletree Inn. I …

pho cow cali – mira mesa

Amazingly I have never blogged about Pho Cow Cali even though I’ve been here oh so very many times. There are a few places I frequent that I never blogged about but I’m unsure why. I need to fix that, starting with this post! I honestly hadn’t been to Pho Cow Cali in awhile but last week I was craving it badly.

[rice vermicelli with egg rolls and bbq pork / $7.35]
I actually don’t usually order Pho when I’m here, but rather …

blush desserts / kearny mesa

During Chicken Wing Week last month we tried to go to Common Theory. On a Friday night. I guess I forgot we live in a big metropolitan city because the wait time was over 45 minutes and I wasn’t willing to wait. Instead I dragged Jake and T over to Blush Desserts for a few desserts (for later, of course – we ended up just going to In-N-Out for dinner – mustard grilled burgers, awwww yeah). I’ve popped in here a few times but haven’t really taken photos or anything since I’m just now getting around to posting about it! Blush Desserts has tons of pretty macarons to choose from, plus cupcakes, cakes, bars, macaron ice cream sandwiches as well as coffees and teas.

la palapa nayarit / imperial beach | nestor

I consider La Palapa Nayarit to be in Imperial Beach though I know it’s called “Nestor”. I’ve just always associated that whole area with Imperial Beach! My childhood friend, Sarah, moved around a lot but they seemed to always end up living in Imperial Beach and I spent a lot of time in this area. Once we got off the freeway that seemed close enough to Imperial Beach for me. Hah!
La Palapa Nayarit is a place we visited during the …
