lemon grove cafe

Last weekend we went out to breakfast on Saturday AND Sunday, my friends. How exciting! I really wanted to hit up the Crack Shack last Sunday but the rainy weather made me change my mind about that. Instead… two days of breakfast restaurants! On Sunday we stayed near Jake’s place and went to the Lemon Grove Cafe, which used to be the Antique Row Cafe.

Jake had always wanted to go to the Antique Row Cafe but sadly missed his chance. …

suzy q’s diner

Jake’s really been into going out for breakfast lately which has made me a happy girl since I love breakfast! Last weekend he needed to be up in the Northland area of San Diego and on the way up, I picked out a spot named Suzy Q’s Diner in Escondido. It sounded cute and lovely and, more importantly, it was a dog friendly restaurant since we had the three little dogs with us for breakfast that morning.

There’s a dedicated parking lot …

February 1st, 2016Downtown, Mary, San Diego Countymary 6 Comments

Last week I was invited to come and check out a little preview dinner at Blush Ice Bar for the special Gaslamp Quarter Mardi Gras Celebration that is happening THIS WEEKEND on February 6th, 2016. Quite frankly I’m in shock that it’s already February. 2016 is really zooming along!

In case you don’t know about the crazy Mardi Gras Celebration, here’s a little recap. There will be a huge block party in the Gaslamp spanning about 10 blocks with 5 live stages with …

baguette bros

Every other week I find myself down in the Convoy area and this week I decided to stop by a new restaurant for a little bit of lunch. I had heard about Baguette Bros from one of my co-workers and decided to go check it out. Baguette Bros is in one of the oh-so-slightly larger lots – the same lot that houses Jeong Won Korean BBQ Buffet.

They’ve got a big “Grand Opening” banner up over the shop so it’s easy …

jake & eggs

Last Sunday morning I wanted to go out for a little breakfast. After being cooped up for a week with the flu, I was ready to go out for a little bit of grub! I had read about a new pop-up restaurant in Ocean Beach that I wanted to check out called Jake & Eggs. Obviously the name tickled me and it seemed like the spot to take Jake for breakfast!

The chef is named Jake, solving the mystery of the …

havana grill

On Saturday after running a few errands, it was time for Jake and I to have some “real lunch”! I picked Havana Grill since we were in the area and I had been curious about Havana Grill. I had seen it was finally open and wanted to check it out with Jake.

Havana Grill is in that little plaza off Clairemont Mesa Blvd. at the 805 when you start heading west. The smaller one that’s slighter harder to park in. Surely …

getting over the flu + shakes from shake smart
January 18th, 2016Mary, Oceanside, San Diego Countymary 2 Comments

I disappeared from the blog last week since I came down with something. Namely, the evil flu. I was surprised that I even got the flu since I got my yearly flu shot, but apparently my body just couldn’t fight off that nasty virus even with some “protection” in my back pocket.

I had a cute little puppy nurse to help lift my spirits during my boring week of illness.

Fun fact: if you go to the doctor’s office wearing a face …
