double standard kitchenetta
July 24th, 2015 Downtown, Mary, San Diego County mary 6 Comments

Imagine it: Sunday afternoon. Downtown. Bright, sunny, few clouds here and there. Hot. Humid. Nice day to sit outside on the patio at a new-to-you restaurant. You’ve got your dog, your boys, and an afternoon of food ahead of you! Just ignore those deep dark clouds that keep rolling in for a moment. It won’t rain, right?
Yeah, we’ll get to that.
Last weekend I was invited to try out Double Standard Kitchenetta – a relative new joint down in Gaslamp. Previously this spot was …

pioneertown + the stagecoach inn
July 3rd, 2015 Mary, The Desert, Travel mary 3 Comments

Before I forget and get TOO lazy, let me wrap up my desert trip from May! (PS – Can you believe it’s JULY now?!)

On the last day of our trip (which was on Memorial Day itself), we headed up to Pioneertown which is not too far away from Yucca Valley. There’s a road that leads up to Pioneertown. The town is located just up over the hills in the distance of Yucca Valley. It takes about 10 minutes to drive …

pho hung cali

We were down in Chula Vista on Father’s Day to drop off the kiddos after going to see Jurassic World at Horton Plaza. Have you been to Horton Plaza lately? It feels a little like a ghost town these days and the movie theater is totally old school – no digital signs, no TV’s showing you ads while you stand in line for popcorn, and more importantly there’s no one else there. You pretty much get the place to yourself. …

a-chau vietnamese sandwiches

Taking a break from all of those desert posts to tell you about some FOOD I actually ate recently. Vietnamese food to be exact! Most of the time I only seem to eat Vietnamese food around Mira Mesa but I was down in Jake’s ‘hood and needed a bite to eat. Jake was doing the Little League thing and I was on my own to grab something before his game started. I decided to go and check out A-Chau which …

the cork and craft

Recently I was invited to go in and check out a relatively new spot up in Rancho Bernardo called The Cork and Craft. The Cork and Craft is a really unique restaurant that also houses a winery and a brewery. The restaurant came about as a way to bind all three ventures into one, making it a place to not only get a great meal but to also enjoy some local wine and craft beer!

Jake and I went in on a Friday …

draft republic

Draft Republic is a relatively new spot from the Cohn Restaurant Group that opened up in the La Jolla/UTC area. It’s not too far from my office and I’ve been here for a lunch a couple of times with my co-workers. It’s a really nice spot – there’s a big parking lot right next to the restaurant so you don’t have to stress about that (like you do if you go to UTC), it’s a big open layout in the …

legacy brewing tap and kitchen / miramar
March 25th, 2015 Mary, Miramar, San Diego County mary 4 Comments

I’m always looking out for new restaurants near my office since I love variety and I love checking out new places. I get uber bored when I end up going to the same places again and again, especially since I live and work in the same area. I need new foods in my life! When I discovered there was a new gastropub like place nearby I knew I had to go and scope it out.

Legacy Brewing Tap and Kitchen is …
