big bite bacon fest – 2014 recap
July 14th, 2014 Del Mar, etc, Mary, San Diego County Mary Desjean 10 Comments

On the second to last day of the fair, Jake and I attended the dinner session of the Big Bite Bacon Fest thanks to Big Bite Events. Since I already been to the fair, we got there about an hour before the event and wandered around a little bit before the VIP admission began at 5:30PM. Jake didn’t have anything in particular he wanted to see so we didn’t spend the whole day there.

VIP admission nets you an extra hour …

scoring tickets with scorebig.com
July 10th, 2014 etc, Mary Mary Desjean 2 Comments

“Scoring” tickets! See what I did there? I’m sure you did and I’m also sure you’re groaning at me right now but it’s okay. Let me tell you about this new site I was invited to try out called ScoreBig. ScoreBig is sort of like the Priceline of ticket sales for sports games, concerts, and Broadway shows. You check out what events they have, select where you want to sit and offer a bid on the tickets.
When you go to …

lemon aid charity event
June 19th, 2014 Coronado, etc, Mary, San Diego County Mary Desjean 0 Comments

I got a flyer this week about a Lemon “Aid” charity event put on by UR Charities  that’s happening this Saturday! It’s a local event over in Coronado where they will be doing a “Lemon Cookoff” – kind of like a chili cookoff, but with everything flavored with lemon!
If I had gotten the flyer earlier I might have even signed up to participate…
But I’ll go as a visitor instead! You buy tasting tickets and then your ticket acts as a …

I already mentioned this but I’ll be in Florida, visiting various parts I have never seen before and hopefully sampling a lot of key lime pie. I’ve got a few posts lined up for next week (or well, I’m working on it anyway) so you can still enjoy some random crap awesome things while I’m gone. I’ll be posting photos of my adventuring on Instagram if you want to …

college area taste 2014 recap
April 22nd, 2014 College, Mary, San Diego County Mary Desjean 10 Comments

I meant to post this last week but the week kind of got away from me! Here’s my recap of the College Area Taste!
Jake and I left a little early so we could get there before the event started to pick up our tickets at will call. While getting our tickets, Lynn and Dennis of Oh-So Yummy arrived at the same time. She was the winner of my giveaway and the four of us ended up going around the whole …

taste of downtown 2013 event recap
October 14th, 2013 Downtown, Mary, San Diego County Mary Desjean 8 Comments

I was invited to attend the Taste of Downtown by McFarlane Promos and I happily accepted. I meant to go the last two years (!!) but something came up both times and I wasn’t able to make it. Stacey was my cohort for the evening and we planned on tackling this event the simple way: just go down 5th and swing around to 6th until we hit 14 spots.
Why 14? Stacey insisted we should do one more than the last …

August 2nd, 2013 etc, Mary Mary Desjean 2 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I had the great fortune to attend the Dos Equis “Most Interesting Dinner” with Craig Thornton of Wolvesmouth, which took place during Comic Con and was . I didn’t actually go to Comic Con, but Jake and I did wander around Downtown before the dinner and saw many interesting people and things. It’s amazing to me how every year Comic Con swoops in and changes the landscape of the Gaslamp Quarter and the Convention Center. …
