Oh man, Tacos El Gordo is THE BEST. Quite possibly one of my favorite places to eat. I like their lengua and cabeza tacos, too, but hands down the pork adobada wins. I wish they would open a location in North County, I’d be there everyday..

Wow… the photo of the quesadilla just lured me in. I had no idea what a mula was either. Good to know!

  3. The one on Palm Avenue used to be a Taco Bell, back in the day. We would go there after high school and get our (Americanized) tacos!

The set up at Tacos el Gordo is like at Tacos el Poblano. Three diff’t guys doings diff’t meats. Get food first, then pay later.

One of my friends calls those cheese and meat stuffed mulas, ‘mulitas’.

Adobada is the most flavorful! 🙂

Hi CC! Tacos el Polano is on our list of places to try – nice to know the setup is the same! Do they have the same meats?

      • Meats are the same. they also serve mulitas. the one in downtown cv is gone. there is one near us, near the old north park produce….(off of East H, kind of near costco but separate; it’s next to a dry cleaners).

The one I go to is the Highland Ave one. I don’t understand the people who order twenty through drive-thru! Like, Really? Haha. Anyway nice post and photos Mary! Cheers

Mulitas are soooooo good. Yes. You should definitely go to Tacos de Gordo to get one! All that cheesy goodness… I actually also just like getting a plain old quesadilla from here. 😀
