Tasty Things in Life: Faux Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits

I have proclaimed my love of Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits before. I’ve been meaning to try and recreate these forever, but sometimes I’m just really lazy.

Last weekend I felt it was my mission to make biscuits. And I did. And they were awesome.

I used Bakergirl’s recipe almost to a T. You can see it here.

The dough comes together very quickly. I just used a fork to mash up the butter into the flour and used my hand to bring it all together. I grated my own cheese, too. So fancy.

Once they came out, I made up the butter-parsley-garlic powder mix and brushed them all over the biscuits. I used more like 4 tablespoons of butter with freshly chopped parsley and I added a sprinkling of kosher salt on top of each biscuits instead of putting it into the butter.

The verdict? Jake said he liked these more than Red Lobster’s. I call that a success.

  1. OMG. I think I love you. The cheddar biscuits are the only reason I even want to go to Red Lobster! And if Jake says yours are better, I am totally on board!

  2. I love their cheddar biscuits! This quote from Tina Fey’s autobiography, Bossy Pants, hit a note with me:

“There is no one of-woman-born who does not like Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. Anyone who claims otherwise is a liar and a Socialist.”

  3. very nice mary! i tried making a version of these last year as well. several times in fact. i used chopped chives in my batter. i liked you put the sea salt on top of the biscuits – i’ll have to do that next time!

  4. Hey CC – The salt on top of the biscuit was really good – it gave it that little punch of flavor. I think it worked better than putting it into the butter mixture. Hmm, might have to try it with chives next time, too!
