baking for a cause

I finished up my goodies tonight for the Food Blogger Bake Sale (which, in case you forgot, is this Saturday)! Oy, my back hurts a little.

I unwrapped many mini reese’s to be stuffed inside of peanut butter cookies. This dough is killer. I used Smitten Kitchen’s Peanut Butter Cookies recipe this time around… though, minus the chocolate chips.

I really wanted to do a low-sugar version of this cookie, but it didn’t quite work out that way. I think that will be something I will just make a small batch of in the future.

I also made a pan of these super thick, creamy lemon bars using lemons from the tree in our backyard. I had my friend, Stacey, come over to help me package everything up and we ended up with one GIGANTIC lemon bar in one package. It weighs a ton! Whoever buys that lemon bar is really getting their money’s worth.

My chocolate drizzle on my cookies is kind of weak looking, but oh well. They still taste pretty darn good. Stacey and I watched “White Noise 2” while we packaged cookies because Nathan Fillion is a hottie.

  1. I spent until 10 p.m. last night baking and packaging everything was the hardest part! And my back is killing me today too!!!!

Sorry I won’t be there but your good look fabulous. When Paul stops buy to drop off my stuff, I’ll make sure he stops by your table and picks up some goodies.

  2. Hi Darlene! I baked for many hours yesterday and made my friend help me package. My lemon bars I had to use ribbon to put the tag on and those were a pain in the butt. The cookies were way easier. My back is sore today, too! It’s all for a good cause, right?!

  3. hi mary – i hope to see you and the other gals there this afternoon! hopefully you guys will still have stuff left. thanks for providing the list of what’s being offered! yikes! so many awesome things!

    1. aww, sorrry i missed you and that you missed out on my goods! there were still a bunch of cookies left by the time i took off. oh well, i’ll just have to bring some lemon bars to the next meetup, right? 🙂

  4. I splurged on about 6 treats at the bake sale (why not, it’s for a good cause) and had to say your peanut butter cookie was my absolute favorite. Thanks for bringing them to the sale, and even more for sharing the pics and recipe for the dough. Super yummy.

    1. That is also what I told myself when I bought a ton of treats – all for a good cause! I’m so happy to hear you enjoy my cookies! They’re easy to make and so delicious. Just lots of unwrapping Reese’s…
