guiltea cravings | clairemont

Last weekend Jake, T, and I had dinner at Lolita’s. But I’m not here today to talk about that – surely you know all about Lolita’s! No, no, no. I’m here to talk about some dessert I had at a new spot called GuilTea Cravings. Specifically macarons. Delicious little macarons.

GuilTea Cravings is located right next to the 805 off Clairemont Mesa Blvd. It’s next to a place called Twisted Sushi and Sipz Fusion Cafe. We hit up Comickaze first and …

hiking at palomar mountain + the buffet at harrah’s rincon casino

During our mini staycation, we took off to Palomar Mountain for a fun (and tiring) nature hike. I wanted to revisit the Palomar Mountain School where I (and T) went for sixth grade camp. We also went to The Buffet at Harrah’s Rincon Casino for lunch! More on the buffet later. First up… breakfast!
Breakfast at Starbucks
If it’s after 6AM, there are only 2 options for breakfast at Harrah’s. If it’s before 6AM then Pink’s will be in the mix for …

the milk bar | north park

Last weekend after we ate some burgers, I made Jake drive by a new spot so I could try out some cookies and crazy flavored milks. The spot? The Milk Bar. The Milk Bar is located adjacent to Streetcar Merchants in North Park. The space is actually open so you can walk right into Streetcar from Milk Bar and vice versa.

It’s a pretty simple little setup inside. There’s a counter that displays the sweet treats being offered that day. They …

[review] hidden garden cookies
March 7th, 2016 Mary, products Mary 2 Comments

I was recently asked if I wanted to review some new cookies. These are “sneaky” veggie cookies called Hidden Garden Cookies. Each cookie has different vegetables “hidden” inside of them so you are eating something healthier while also eating cookies! They are also gluten free! I agreed to try the product out and they sent me a few complimentary bags of cookies to try. I brought them into the office so my co-workers could also give a little bit of …

whimsic alley, milk jar cookies, and wacko soap plant / los angeles, ca
January 11th, 2016 Hollywood, Los Angeles County, Mary Mary 6 Comments

After a very filling lunch of Korean BBQ at Han Jang Chon, we headed out to check out a toy shop in Burbank. After looking at Funko Pop toys we then headed over to a shop that I’ve read about on CC’s blog called Whimsic Alley as well as a cookie shop called Milk Jar Cookies and a kooky little shop called Wacko Soap Plant. Let’s start off with Whimsic Alley!

I’ve been wanting to visit Whimsic Alley for quite some time as …

embargo grill

Last month (also last year! haha!) Laura and I went out for a little dinner to a spot I’d been meaning to check out for awhile: the Embargo Grill. It’s a Cuban place down in the Sports Arena area (just a couple doors down from the Cravory and in the same lot as the amusingly named taco shop “It’s a Taco Shop”).

I remember this spot used to be a burger place called BGR the Burger Joint. Looking back at my …

sunny side kitchen
December 28th, 2015 Escondido, Mary, San Diego County Mary 6 Comments

A few weekends ago Jake, T and I were up in North County land for another one of Jake’s chiropractor appointments. This little jaunts up north allow us to explore some unknown territory and with the help of the internet I scoped out a place called Sunny Side Kitchen in Escondido.

Sunny Side Kitchen is a super cute little cafe that’s open for breakfast and lunch. There are a few outdoor tables, too, so you could bring along a furry companion …
