It’s almost Thanksgiving again! I feel like I haven’t even adjusted to the time change yet and already the holidays are creeping up on me. I’m going to blink three times and it’ll be Christmas. Time, you are going by way too fast.
I’ve started really getting into Pinterest lately and created a Thanksgiving board with tons of ideas for Thanksgiving recipes including side dishes and desserts (plus some crafts). Here are a few of my favorites from the bunch, plus a couple of my own recipes at the bottom for good measure.
Dijon Maple Green Beans with Caramelized Pecans, Bacon and Feta from Carlsbad Cravings
I pinned a bunch of green bean related recipes but I think I liked this one the most because of the dijon maple sauce. I think I’d prefer it with just the green beans and sauce (and the nuts) and leave off the cheese and bacon. Sacareglious, I know, but I would still want to taste the green beans. The sauce sounds like it would be a great sweet and tangy dressing for the green beans.
Chili Roasted Butternut Squash from The Creekside Cook
This recipe sounds like a great kick to regular old butternut squash. It sounds more savory with the chili addition and I think it’d be a great addition to Thanksgiving! I’d actually be tempted to do the chili roasting and then pair it with a little brown sugar and nuts for a little sweet heat.
Pumpkin Pie with Pecan Crust from The Every Girl
I like the method they use on this one for the crust. Bake the pecans into the crust a little with brown sugar and butter and THEN put pumpkin pie on top. I’m not usually a fan of combination pies like this, but for some reason, this sounds special to me. Maybe because it’s not exactly the “pecan pie” goop on the bottom, but a more solid crust, with the pumpkin on top. This might be my pie of choice for Thanksgiving this week.
Creamy Corn Pudding with Crispy Onions and Herbs from Pinch of Yum
This little number sounds like a softer version of cornbread, and I loves me some cornbread in a serious, serious way. The crispy onions on top kind of sealed the deal for me and I really want this on our table this Thanksgiving.
My Memere’s Pork Stuffing is always a classic dish featured on our Thanksgiving table. It’s warm, delicious, comforting and feels like a little hug from my grandmother.
If you need something cheesy and gooey and good on your table, try my 5 Cheese Crispy Creamy Macaroni and Cheese. It’s saucy and extra cheesy. I promise everyone will love it. Unless they’re weird and don’t like cheese, I guess.
My very last suggestion is to hook up your family and friends with Creamy New York Style Cheesecake for dessert instead of pie. I found out the best way to create an incredibly creamy cheesecake that’s just like the one at Cheesecake Factory. Mine has a coconut crust for a little something something but it’s great no matter what kind of crust you use.
I hope this post gives you a few ideas for your Thanksgiving table this year! What will you be making? Let me know in the comments below!
