I was lucky enough to try Pinkberry’s newest summer flavor, Watermelon, from Ronstadt & Associates PR. I tried it in advance of the flavor premiering in their Pinkberry stores. I actually haven’t tried Pinkberry before this; I thought the only store was in Hillcrest but I learned that there’s also one not too far from me over in Carmel Mountain. After this tasting though, I’m happy to say that I definitely want to go in and get some more Pinkberry this summer!
This watermelon frozen yogurt is topped with watermelon puree, watermelon chunks and chunks of cucumber. The frozen yogurt itself is really creamy, not too sweet, and slightly tart (you get more of the yogurt taste in the background). The watermelon puree was a really good idea, enhancing the watermelon flavor. The chunks of fruit were perfectly ripe, juicy and sweet. The cucumber didn’t add too much flavor or take anything away, it was more like adding a new, crunchy texture to the yogurt.
I will admit, watermelon and cucumber in a frozen yogurt dish sounded totally weird to me. But it works. I would order this again!
The Watermelon Pinkberry arrives in stores on June 25th for an 8 week run (or until supplies run out this summer). Pinkberry locations will be hosting a Watermelon Happy Hour daily from 5-7PM. Customers can get any size serving of watermelon Pinkberry for half price.
