I feel kind of like a poser writing about the Oinkster because I know Alyssa frequents this place a lot and has definite opinions on what’s good here. It was my first visit and though I wasn’t forced to go here, Alyssa told me that it was excellent and I really have to trust her judgment.
I kept it simple and got a plain old cheeseburger with American cheese (apparently though I should have gotten Gruyere, but hey, I’m a first-timer). I combo’d my meal with some fries and a drink to round things out. How was it? It was good. The burger was moist and juicy. Maybe a little too much lettuce there, but hey, that’s cool. I really liked the fries, too. They tasted like they were hand cut, but not all gross like at In-N-Out (sorry, In-N-Out’s fries totally suck), and crispy.
Apparently there are other magical things on this menu, like Piggy Fries and burgers with Pastrami on them, but I am unable to tell you about these things except in passing. Am I trying to get Alyssa to write more about this place? Yes. Will it work? I have no idea.

hi mary – saw this post under the “you might like these posts” thing…
my husband and i went back here in late march (it’s in my archives) – we didn’t try their pastrami sandwich. instead we had an ube (purple yam) shake and a side of belgian fries. we wanted their pb & j donut too but were too full by the time we were done with the shake and fries. the owner of Oinkster, Andre Guerrero is Filipino American (our main reason to check out his place). he is also a chef at an upscale french place in l.a. – marche.
loved the ube shake; the fries were all right but not that exciting. we’ll have to visit again to try their other items.
