When Alyssa used to live in San Diego, we would visit IKEA a lot. Not just to look at their cute furnishings or to explore their cheap goods, but also to eat there. We discovered early on that we really liked the Swedish Meatballs with lingonberry sauce and that it was cheap to boot.
I haven’t been to the IKEA cafeteria in years, but I visited with my boyfriend a few weeks ago since he needed to pick up a few things for his place. He asked me if I wanted to go and also eat there and I said, “Swedish Meatballs!!” which if translated, means “Why, yes, I would like to go there.”
It hasn’t changed a whole lot. They still offer the Swedish Meatballs deal but they have new items, too. They have more desserts, some salads, chicken fingers for the picky kids, and garlic toast. There are other things, too. Seafood, other dishes, etc. I ignore them. I always get the Swedish Meatballs. For $4.99 you get 15 Swedish Meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, and lingonberry sauce. You can also get the kids meal (for yourself or your little ones) – $.99 cents each or 3 items for $2.49. They also serve breakfast here (which I would like to try someday). For .$99 you get scrambled eggs, 2 strips of bacon and potatoes. You can’t even buy all of that stuff for $.99!
As usual, the swedish meatballs were excellent. I like eating them with their homemade mashed potatoes, some gravy and a little of the lingonberry sauce all in one bite. The potatoes don’t taste like that gross pasty instant style at all. They taste like actual potatoes. The meatballs are delicious with gravy smeared all over them and a touch of sweetness from the lingonberry sauce.
If you’re in the area or want a quick, cheap meal then IKEA is a great place to go. They also have food downstairs with hot dogs, cinnamon buns, and ice cream cones for an even quicker on-the-go meal.

We were just here the other day because I was craving their Swedish meatballs! So delicious, and a great place to take the kiddos too!
From time to time, IKEA has deals on their cafe food such as free breakfasts in weekends and 99cents for the Swedish meatball plate. The 99cents meatball promotion was in the weekend two weeks ago. I saw their ads in the emails they sent me and from direct mail. No coupon needed either.
