No real post to close out the week because I’m in Vegas! Last week I won a Twitter contest and won a pass to the Food Fight Write Food Blogger conference here in Vegas, which is going on in conjunction with the World Food Championships (which is like a crazy big food competition event). Here’s a few photos to tide you over in the mean time.
The conference is taking place at the Plaza Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas. The Plaza is right at the end of the Fremont Street Experience. Those line you see above are zip lines! And that curved top is one giant screen which plays shows at the top of the hour (I saw a “concert” featuring Bon Jovi).
Hogs & Heifers! It’s a bar. I loved the name of it. There was a Food Fight Write party happening across the street. Kind of wish I went in here.
On my first day of the conference, the Food into Words session with Marge Perry of A Sweet and Savory Life was my favorite. We did writing exercises with her showing the importance (and difficulty) of being accurate in your descriptions when writing about food. It was very eye opening and very helpful!
Tonight I went to Carson Kitchen with a few fellow bloggers to check out a local restaurant. These Chicken Skins with Honey were just one of the items we had. Imagine a crunchy, fatty, crispy chicken skin with a light seasoning of salt. Dipping into a pool of honey to combine a salty sweet combination that plays over your tongue. Yeah, I liked this dish a heck of a lot.
Recaps about my time in Vegas coming soon!
Omg…you had me at chicken skinz…
Oh man those chicken sounds were so good!
Hogs & Heifers is pretty much the coolest name ever. You are lucky you won a chance to attend this! Can’t wait to see more pics!
I know, I kind of wished I went into Hogs & Heifers. I peeked in as I walked by!
