stuffed! food truck

Every day I check out the San Diego Food Trucks website and Twitter to see what food trucks might be near my office that day and recently Stuffed! was making a nearby curbside stop. Not all of the trucks come out this way to Sorrento Valley (the quieter side of Sorrento Valley – I don’t like going to the Qualcomm side, too busy!) so I felt it was my humble blogger duty to go and check them out.

The menu at the Stuffed! food truck is fairly simple and everything ends in an exclamation point because! they! love! burgers! Pow! Wham! Slam! The whole thing makes me think of the old Batman TV show. All of the burgers have cheese on top AND inside of the burger so you’re getting double cheese for your bucks. The difference is the toppings. You can get a little crazy and order the Boom! which has spicy macaroni and cheese on top plus bacon (whoa, nelly) or can could try the Slam! with pepper jack cheese or for you blue cheese lovers out there (re: not Faye or CC) they have the Bang! with blue cheese and fried onion strips. The options… there are many.

I decided to do my own thing and I ordered the regular Pow! burger which comes with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, an absent pickle and stuffed sauce. I asked for onion strings to be added for an additional $2. The nice gentlemen working the truck told me I could also opt to get the onion strings on the side for $3 as my side dish. I declined and got a side of tots to check them out.

This was a big ass burger, my friends. I suddenly wished that I had gotten those onion strings on the side since this thing was massive!

I ended up taking off half of the onion strings so I could eat this comfortably. The bun was fluffy and toasted. The patty was nicely seasoned and cooked to a medium rare which I enjoyed. Here you can see the middle of my burger… which… doesn’t seem to be quite as “stuffed” as I thought it was going to be. There was definitely a pocket in the middle and some traces of cheese but it didn’t really feel like a “stuffed with cheese!” burger to me. Lucky for them it was still tasty, but I was a little disappointed there wasn’t more cheese in the middle since the truck is, after all, called “Stuffed!”.

The tater tots were extremely crunchy but also extremely greasy. I couldn’t bear to eat more than a few of them. They were like little grease bombs in my mouth which is too bad since I loved how crunchy the tater tots were. The onion strings were my favorite and I’d order those again – but definitely just on the side next time!

Would I come back? Even though there was a lack of stuffed cheese, I would since the burger was still very good. I’d want a partner in crime though since I couldn’t finish this thing and I’m actually quite curious about a burger with macaroni and cheese on top. That’s a bib worthy burger right there! Any takers? 🙂

  1. Hmm I’ve never had burgers from this food truck, but Bao’s Awesome Burgers & Sandwiches (BABS) on Convoy has really amazing stuffed burgers that are oozing with cheese! 😀

  2. We saw this food truck when driving south on the 15 yesterday and had assumed stuffed with cheese and our unimaginative minds ended there. Your burger does look gorgeous.

    1. Hi Cathy – Thank you 🙂 They should try stuffing the burgers with other things… like mushrooms and cheese! Still want the cheese in there 🙂

    1. It was crazy big! Sharing size, definitely. I need more lunch partners who want to share food with me, haha. The tots made me sad.

    1. Half and half is also a good way to go 🙂 Minion has been also been extra busy with work and often goes to lunch too late! Sometimes I need to eat EARLY haha.
