I’m assaulting Twitter and Instagram with my favorite donut photos today. Because it’s National Donut Day! And because I can. Also: I didn’t feel like doing a “real” post today. Sorry. Follow me and check out my luscious donut photos today on either Instagram or Twitter!
Here are a few photos for you guys, though:
These are Koeksusters! They are cold, glazed donuts from a South African restaurant off Miramar Rd called Cape Town (and also Deli SA in Kearny Mesa). They’re different then other donuts since they are cold but they are quite interesting! The sauce is runny and tasted like a honey flavored sauce. The donuts are soft from sitting in the liquid but keep their texture quite well. I like them!
When I went to Vegas last fall, I stopped at a placed called O Face Doughnuts. Mostly I wanted to try their savory donuts but I found out they only make them on the spot and I was heading out of town. I didn’t think it would last long enough for my ride home.
If you’re wondering if that’s blue cheese on the bottom donut, then you are correct, my friend. Some of you will be curious about this and some of you will be disgusted. Sorry, I didn’t actually try it.
I did try a few of the sweet donuts though! I remember that the donuts were prettier than they actually tasted. Sadness. But I got tips on where to go in Vegas for the next time I’m out there!

I LOVE THIS POST. I need to go to Petersens (spelling??) in Escondido and Randy’s!! Mmmmm, donuts!!!
Petersen’s is really good! You should make a special trip up there. They’re donuts are crazy large (and crazy good)! We went to Randy’s over the weekend and the line was SO LONG. I think everyone was trying to get their donut fix, they didn’t have a lot of the donuts we wanted. Boo. Still good though.
