pumpkin items are back at trader joe’s!

Yesterday I needed to pick up a few things at Trader Joe’s since it’s my turn for breakfast Wednesday and I discovered that Trader Joe’s pumpkin items are BACK! YES! Not only that, but they created a bunch of new pumpkin related things and they have little “pumpkin” flags next to all of the pumpkin items throughout the store. WOOHOO!

While browsing through the store, I spotted this in the frozen section and posted a little note to Instagram about whether or not I should buy it. The answer was clear: Yes, yes, yes, a million times, yes! Haha.

Pumpkin Items from Trader Joe's

I didn’t go too crazy on this shopping trip and I ended up getting the Pumpkin Pie Mochi, Iced Pumpkin Scone Cookies, two boxes of the toaster pastries that I love, love, love and one can of pumpkin so I can make some pumpkin bread later this week.

Pumpkin Pie Mochi Ice Cream

It didn’t really take much to convince me to buy this. It has the soft, chewy mochi on the outside which is a lovely shade of orange. On the inside is this wonderful pumpkin pie ice cream!

It’s like eating a solid pumpkin pie milkshake, it’s so creamy and flavorful and has all of the wonderful spices from pumpkin pie. The flavor is a tiny bit intense, but I think that’s what makes it so tasty. It took a lot not to eat a second one immediately. If you love pumpkin stuff, especially pumpkin pie, I’m sure you will love this!

Iced Pumpkin Scone Cookies - Trader Joe's

The second “new to me” pumpkin item I purchased were these cookies. On the back of the box it says, “We couldn’t decide if these were more like cookies… or scones. You decide!”

The thing I like about the Trader Joe’s pumpkin items is that they all have a nice, robust flavor. They don’t hide the pumpkin or the spices by doing it “lite”. They really ramp it up! This tastes like fall in a little cookie form. I could see what they mean about it being like a scone – it’s quite a bit more dense than just a cookie and the texture/crispness is close to a scone or a biscuit. It’s entirely coated in a light icing which adds an extra touch of sweetness to the scone cookies. I really liked these!

Other new pumpkin things I saw (and will probably get on a future trip): Pumpkin Danish Rings (in a white glassine bag in the bakery section), Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Caramels, Pumpkin Brittle (brittle with roasted pumpkin seeds) and my check out guy told me about Pumpkin ice cream (which I must have missed while drooling over the mochi). I know I didn’t see everything, but there are also pumpkin bars, my beloved pumpkin toaster pastries, pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin muffins, mini pies, some kind of crackers with pumpkin and lots more. I’ll probably do a couple more pumpkin posts after I purchase and try a few more things!

If you love this pumpkin stuff, be sure to head over now since it doesn’t last forever! I’ll have to go stock up on my toaster pastries.

  1. We happened to be in a TJ’s where the free sample was pumpkin ice cream. It was SO deliciously creamy and rich, we ended up buying 3 tubs – one for us, and two for hostess gifts for later in the week. Did they have that last year? And if so, how did we miss it????

    1. Hi Donna – I don’t remember the pumpkin ice cream from last year, but that sure doesn’t mean they didn’t have it! The pumpkin pie ice cream in the mochi was so good and creamy. I’m quite impressed with their ice cream.

  2. Oh, I forgot how much I missed the pumpkin toaster pastries. And I’m definitely getting a danish ring if I see one. Plus some ice cream. And mochi ice cream. I’m so excited it’s fall!!

    1. Hi Leanne – I have seriously been waiting so long for the toaster pastries to come back! I got the strawberry ones the rest of the year but the pumpkin ones are truly my favorite. They are so much better than name brand Pop Tarts. I’m excited it’s fall, too, and that it’s actually been cooler these last few days.

  3. The pumpkin caramel Kringle is from OH Bakery in Wisconsin. Interesting flavor. I’ve only had the Kringle once before during Christmas. It was a gift from former SAT vendors who were from Wisconsin. They wanted to give their clients a “taste of home”. Pumpkin is THE fall flavor I suppose. I know this is a time of year that you enjoy very much! 🙂 I remember seeing pumpkin flavored dog treats at Target last year!

    1. Hi CC – Thanks for giving the low-down on the Kringle! I remember looking at the package and I almost put it into my cart but wanted to wait for the weekend when Jake and some kiddos would be around to help finish it off. I know pumpkin isn’t totally your thing, you’ll have to bear with the rest of us, ha ha! Jake’s dogs like pumpkin stuff but I don’t think Maya does. Too bad, I probably would have bought those dog treats.
