San Diego Food Bloggers Bake Sale: Get Your Goodies On

The San Diego Food Bloggers Bake Sale is coming up VERY SOON – like, this Saturday, May 17th, 2014! Our little group decided to branch out and we are now supporting the local San Diego Food Bank and their Foods 4 Kids Backpack program!

food4kids

“The Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides weekend food packages to chronically hungry elementary school students from low-income households who are at risk of hunger over the weekend when free school meals are unavailable.

Every Friday afternoon students on the program are called out of class, often to the school nurse’s office, and discretely given a bag of food which is tucked into their backpacks.

Each bag contains enough food to see the students through the weekend, and the discreet distributions remove the stigma that might be attached to the program.”

I plan on bringing my strawberry lime cheesecake bars to the event as well as some lemon ricotta cookies. I’m also hoping to bring a some treats for the four legged furballs to enjoy as well (but uh, I still need to find a recipe… and I hope I still have that doggy bone cookie cutter somewhere…).

I think my co-workers would have a riot if I didn’t make these Lemon Ricotta Cookies.

I hope you can join us and swing by the sale this Saturday to support us! Thank you!

    1. It’s okay! We started packing up like 5 minutes after I texted you! We raised about $540! Not bad for just a few bakers 🙂
