dudley’s bakery – pecan maple bread

My friend Laura and I went up into the mountains this past weekend for a little eating and pie tasting up in Julian, CA. We stopped at Dudley’s bakery in Santa Ysabel before going up the mountain. I got 5 (!) loaves of bread (if you buy 4 you get the 5th one for free). One of the loaves I got was this new flavor – Pecan Maple! I’m having dreams of delicious french toast and possibly some cinnamon toast, but I can’t think of what else to do with this bread. Bread pudding? Nutella? Monkey bread? I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve that I plan to cook and write about. Got any ideas for me as well?

  1. Those breads should freeze well until use. Bread pudding and french toast would be amazing with that bread! Also eaten alone with nothing else but butter. 😉

  2. Yeah, we definitely had to freeze some, there’s no way we’re going to eat 5 loaves of bread right away! I also got some of the Julian Apple Bread which I think will also be lovely in french toast form!

  3. Hello Mary,
I discovered your blog while looking for Trader Joe’s pumpkin product images — so glad I did! I spent my first 2 years of high school in Oceanside back in the 70’s when my dad was stationed at Pendleton and am going through my seasonal California nostalgia angst here in New England. We loved Dudley’s and Julian and Palomar and Fallbrook (read your recent burger post), and I feel it’s serendipitous that I found you. Yes, I would like to ask if it is okay if I use your TJ’s pumpkin products image on our blog (found it on google), but as a fellow foodie with family still in San Diego, I’m excited to visit your blog as my next best thing to being there. Thank you!

    1. Hi Patricia – How cool – I’m glad my blog could help bring back a few memories of California! I will email you about the photos. Thanks for your comments!
